Dinah is a very special, sweet, small terrier mix who is around a year old and weighs less than 10 pounds.  She was born without eyes and is blind.  Dinah was found as a stray so we don't know anything about her background. She is very sweet and affectionate with her foster family and loves to cuddle.  She is fine with the cats and other dogs in her foster home but sometimes is a little overwhelmed when they surprise her.  Dinah is not housebroken but is learning to use a potty pad.  She is very interested in everything that goes on around her.  The best home for Dinah will be with a very patient family.   Because she startles easily, she will not be placed in a home with small children.  She would probably do best with another small friendly dog who she could follow around.  Dinah's new family needs to be prepared to create a home environment where she can easily learn her way around and feel safe. We do have a trainer who is experienced with blind dogs who is willing to work with her new family.  Poor Dinah has been through a tough time and deserves to have a wonderful forever home.  For information, contact Patti at 602-943-7059 or rcartfam@aol.com

Khan is a 1 year old golden/saint mix.  He is a very friendly boy who knows no stranger.  Just loves to be right by your side.  He will be a big boy, right around 100 pounds full grown.  He is still very playful but also will just lay with you.  He gets along great with other dogs but can be oafy so tiny ones  might get stepped on.  He would make a great companion for many familys.
All of our dogs are spay/neutered, up to date on shots and microchiped.  If you are interested in Khan call Jen 623-210-6578 or Ryan 623-606-4855 or email

Charlie is a beautiful red merle miniature Australian shepherd.  He is 6 years old and weighs about 25 pounds.  Charlie is a very sweet, sensitive dog who has been bounced around to a number of homes.  He is initially timid with new people and in new situations, but once he warms up, is very loving with people of all ages.  He gets along well with the other small dogs in his foster home and ignores the cats.  It's obvious that Charlie has not been treated kindly in the past.  He ducks when you pet him.  He is afraid of feet that move too close to him.  He hides when voices get too loud.  Charlie needs a very patient and loving family willing to work with him in a gentle fashion.  He is mostly housebroken but occasionally has accidents.  He is crate trained but needs some encouragement to go inside.  In addition, Charlie is significantly overweight.  As a result, he has some trouble with his hind legs and limps occasionally.  Charlie's foster family is working with him on this but his new family will need to continue to monitor his diet and help him get back to a healthy weight.  Charlie is a very sweet dog who has had a tough life.  He desperately needs a loving family who has time to work with him and make him feel secure.  For information on Charlie, contact Patti at 602-943-7059 or rcartfam@aol.com.

Zoe is a sweet senior chihuahua who is about 10 years old.  She is tiny and weighs less than 5 pounds. Zoe was turned into the County shelter as a stray so we don't know anything about her history.  Since coming into our rescue, she has had a complete dental which included removing all her teeth, and has had a hernia repair.  She is now healthy and very sweet and ready for a forever home.  Zoe is a little "velcro" dog who likes to be with her person all the time.  She follows her foster mom all through the house and likes to sleep under the covers in the bed at night.  Zoe gets along fine with the other cats and small dogs in her foster home.  However, she is possessive with her people, and will growl at other animals when she is on her person's lap.  Zoe seems to like everyone but because of her age, we think a more quiet home without small children would be best for her.  She is spayed, current on vaccines and microchipped.  For information on Zoe, contact Patti at 602-943-7059 or rcartfam@aol.com

Simon is a cute little male poodle.  He is 1-2 years old and weighs about 8 pounds.  Simon came to us as a stray with a fractured pelvis.  The vet thinks he was probably hit by a car.  His pelvis is healed and he doesn't have any complications other than he's not a great jumper.  Simon is very friendly and likes everyone - people, dogs and cats.  He's very playful and really enjoys his squeaky toys.  Simon still has some puppy behaviors, like chewing.  So his new family will need to make sure to put away their shoes and give him lots of chewing toys!  He is mostly housebroken but occasionally has accidents.  He is crate trained and loves to hide all his favorite belongings in his crate!  Simon is a wonderful little dog who will be the perfect companion for a very lucky family.  For information on Simon, contact Patti at 602-943-7059 or rcartfam@aol.com

Waldo is a chubby, cute chihuahua mix who weighs about 8-10 pounds.  He is 3-4 years old.  Waldo came from the County pound, so we don't know much about his history, but his foster family says he is quite a character.  Waldo is housebroken and crate trained.  He enjoys the other small dogs in his foster home and loves to play.  We don't know how he is with big dogs.  Waldo is not good with cats - loves to chase and torment them.  His favorite things are eating and napping on his foster dad's lap.  Waldo can be a little snappy with new people and does not like to be picked up by anyone he doesn't know.  For this reason, he cannot go to a home with children.  He really is a funny little dog and will be a great companion for some lucky person.  For information on Waldo, contact Patti at 602-943-7059 or rcartfam@aol.com

Chachi is a 15 pound chihuahua mix who was born May 2009.  He still has lots of puppy energy and loves to run and play.  He is currently being fostered in a home with other small dogs and cats.  He's good with most of the dogs, although the dominant dogs tend to pick on him.  He's ok with the cats but really likes to chase them if they will run.  Chachi is a sweet dog who craves attention from people.  He is not very confident out of his home environment.  He needs a family who is committed to working with him and helping him to learn to trust and gain confidence.  Because Chachi is a busy boy, we feel he would do best in a home without small children and with another confident small dog to follow.  He is housebroken, crate trained, neutered, current on vaccines and microchipped.  For information on Chachi, contact Patti at 602-943-7059 or rcartfam@aol.com

Chewy is a 1 and half year old, male, lab/chow mix, black Chewy was found as a stray wandering around my neighborhood. He jumped right in my friends car. We had him posted everywhere for a month with no success of finding his owner. When he first came to me, Chewy didn't know how to walk on a leash at all. Now he loves it, because he knows thats when he gets his special one on one time. He is a great walking/jogging partner! He is always very eager to be where the action is. He loves attention and rolls over on his back to get belly rubs. He is very affectionate and loves being around people. Kids seem to scare him and he doesn't know what to do. I would not place him around small children. He loves playing outside with the other big dogs and can never get enough of it. He is completly potty trained and is even learning his basic commands well. You just look at him and see he wants to please you. He talks sometimes, by doing a little whine, its very soft and cute. He will bark when someone comes to the door, or he wants something. For the most part, he is a very calm, gentle, quiet dog. If you are interested in Chewy please call his foster mom Jen #623-210-6578  Ryan 623-606-4855 or email bu.ter.fly@hotmail.com. Chewy will be at our adoption events on Sunday from 11-5pm at the Happy Valley/I17 Petco. Come meet him and more of his friends! Rescue a forever friend!

Doug is a terrier mix, about 15 pounds, and about 2-3 years old.  Doug originally came into rescue via another rescue group that saves mill dogs (www.milldogrescue.org).  Doug spent the first 12-18 months of his life at a midwest puppy mill.  He received very little human interaction and what little he received must not have been pleasant.  Doug has been in his current foster home since May 2008 and has made great progress.  He is housebroken and comfortable with the normal sounds and activity level of a household.  Doug is great with other small dogs and cats.  He loves to play with other dogs, especially chase, and he is a fast runner!  Doug is still very shy around people.  He will let his foster mom pet him if she approaches slowly, and will come up to other members of his foster family and lick the backs of their legs.  But he is very wary of people, especially anyone he does not know.  The best home for Doug will be one that is very patient and loving with experienced dog owners.  Because loud noises and quick movements scare him, he will do best in a home without small children.  He is not snappy but will run and hide when he is afraid.  Doug loves other dogs and would do well with another playful dog his own size.  He responds well to positive training methods and loves treats.  Doug's foster family has worked hard with him, but knows he would blossom in a home where he could get more individual attention.  For information on Doug, contact Patti at 602-943-7059 or rcartfam@aol.com

Honey is a 4 year old female pitbull.  She is very affectionate and loves to be at your feet.  Very ball motavated and will play for hours.  When we got her she was missing all of her hair.  Her skin was cracking and very irritated.  She was diagnosed with demadex mange.  We have gotten her hair back and healthy.  The past owner never treated the problem so she may need further treatments of a cheap medicine called promeris.  She doesn't like cats or other dogs prefering to be the only princess in the house.  Honey is spayed, up to date on shots and microchiped. If you are interested in Honey call Jen 623-210-6578 or Ryan 623-606-4855 or email bu.ter.fly@hotmail.com
